Competencies are the skills and behaviours a role needs, for example Stakeholder management or Financial modelling. Open Performance → Competencies.
The four tabs
The competencies overview: coverage by job role and department
| Tab | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Overview | See setup progress and coverage. Configure a role starts setting one up; Export CSV downloads the overview. |
| Competency Library | Create the competencies your organisation uses, with New competency. |
| Role Profiles | Choose which competencies each job role needs, and at what level, with Add competencies. Copy from another role saves time for similar roles. |
| Assessments | Assess employees against their role's competencies with New assessment. |
Set up a role
- On Competency Library, create the competencies you need. If your role allows AI suggestions, KalHR can suggest a competency's definition, and competencies for a role. You review and choose; nothing is saved without you.
- On Role Profiles, pick a job role and select Add competencies, with the level required for each.
Assess an employee
- On Assessments, select New assessment.
- Choose the employee and rate each of their role's competencies, with evidence.
- Add development actions for any gaps, then submit.
You can't assess yourself.
Ask a manager to do it
You can assign an employee's manager to assess them against their role. The manager does the assessment from the KalHR employee app, and the assignment completes itself once every competency is assessed. You can cancel an assignment if plans change.
Employees see their submitted assessments, and update their own development actions, in the employee app.
